NAME: Trance Gemini (Solar Avatar of Tarn-Vedra; eldest of the Lambent Kith)
FANDOM: Andromeda
AGE: Appears 16; Is actually older than life itself as she is one of the sparks from which all life originated.
ALIGNMENT (GOOD, EVIL, NEUTRAL): Good. Undeniably, ridiculously good.
SEXUALITY: Other. Trance doesn't really have a sexuality because she is technically lacking a "sex". I mean, she has all the necessary female parts and everything and is more than capable, but much in the same way that a fully functional pleasure AI is capable. She can respond and enjoy, but in the most practical senses, the act is pointless. Besides, she has more important things to worry about.
CLASSIFICATION: The Avatar of the Conscience of a Quantum Celestial Being (The Sun of Tarn-Vedra)
ABILITIES: Trance is a Quantum Being which basically means that she is able to see, trace, and manipulate lines of probability. She also has the gift of Creation and Destruction (not that she uses that one often) and all of the abilities that her original celestial form of a sun afford her including but not limited to sunbursts and supernovas.
BRIEF BACKGROUND SUMMARY: Trance Gemini started out life in a vast expanse of nothingness, true universal harmony. The collective, then known only as the Lambent Kith, were an assortment of consciousnesses that developed in the inky black nothingness maintained by the Abyss. The Abyss wanted nothing more than to maintain this calm, this vast emptiness that it so adored, that it loved. In the Abyss's mind, this stability was the only way that harmony and love could be maintained without any negative influences, with purity and love. The Kith, however, disagreed with this assessment. Without anything existing, how could this truly be called a universe? There was nothing happening, nothing going on. And as anyone knows, boredom is a very dangerous thing when it is the boredom of a multitude. The collective rebelled against the Abyss, declaring that they wanted more, that they wanted something else than this purity of love and nothing. Their efforts, however, didn't go without being challenged. The Abyss had help, other consciousnesses that wished for never ending peace and love to continue. A war raged in the heavens and end the end, the Kith won, overthrowing the ruling power and blowing up the Heavens, a phenomenon known as the Big Bang.
And thus, the universe as we know it was created. And the Lambent Kith were spread across the universe, taking the forms of many different celestial bodies in order to watch over their creation while the Abyss seethed. This betrayal would not be taken lightly, and no matter how long it took, universal harmony would be restored.
Trance Gemini, the eldest of the Lambent Kith and the one who had initiated the rebellion, took up her place as the sun of Tarn-Vedra, the home of the Vedran race. She watched them develop from the simplest of creatures to the strength of the three galaxies, the most technologically and biologically advanced race in all of the stars. She was proud of them, so proud. When one of the subsets of the human race, the Nietzscheans, moved to assert their dominance over the galaxies and overthrow the Commonwealth that her Vedrans had worked so hard to build, she was only slightly surprised when the Vedrans used their technology in order build artifical suns and then cut themselves off from the rest of the galaxy, leaving her homeless and abandoned. This certainly wasn't the perfect possible future that she had been hoping for.
Returning the Lambent Kith Nebula, the home that was set up for the Celestial Avatars to meet whenever there was a crisis in the three galaxies, the council was called to contemplate how to deal with the Nietzchean crisis. As possible outcomes of the conflict were contemplated, it was realized that there were no ways for the Commonwealth to win this war. With the Vedrans no isolated, there were no possible futures that ended in victory for them.
Their only hope seemed to lay with the Paradine, the few evolved and ascended Vedrans who had shed their typical form for a more traditional humanoid appearance in order to blend into their environments. People expected too much from the Vedrans themselves, but no one expected much from humans. This way, their abilities were concealed from the larger population, and sometimes, even from themselves.
There were few Paradine who hadn't been on Tarn-Vedra when it had disappeared, and one of these was Dylan Hunt, a High Guard officer and Captain of the Andromeda Ascendant. The Lambent Kith could see his future, the time displacement was about to happen to him. Born on Tarn-Vedra but under the impression that he was human, it was decided that Trance would join the party that would end up finding and accompanying Dylan Hunt on that journey that he would take up once his displacement was discovered to restore the Commonwealth. Charged with this mission, it was made clear to Trance that if things failed, the Abyss would have its chance to unmake existence.
There was only so much death, destruction, and chaos that the universe would be able to take before it began to long for the stability, love, and nothingness that the Abyss would be able to offer them.
And that was how three hundred years later, Trance Gemini found herself taking on her physical avatar form and applying for a job on the Eureka Maru as the environmentals and life support officer and ship physician. She was a mystery to the crew of the Maru, but she was happily accepted, especially by the ship's engineer, Seamus Harper, with whom Trance became very good friends. While she had always watched the residents of Tarn-Vedra from afar and held a great affection for them, Trance was surprised about how attached and protective she became of the crew of the Maru and later of the Andromeda.
No matter how much her sisters insisted that the strength of the mission and its outcome was the most important matter, Trance became determined to get through this without losing the lives of her crew mates. And the perfect possible future that her sisters and brothers saw as best would mean the loss of her friends. And that wasn't a loss that Trance was willing to suffer.
Especially not Harper.
Many adventures later, Harper's infestation was Magog eggs threatened to end his life more and more. She had ran through possible futures, possible ways to rid him of them, as much as she could, but nothing had occurred to her. So when Harper built his Teseract Machine in order to remove the eggs himself, Trance was not unwilling to change places with the older version of herself who arrived. Things had went horribly wrong. She had failed them all. The older her would know what to do, how to fix it. And maybe she would know how to save Harper as well.
So offering Beka a smile and apology, Trance stepped forward into the ripple to return to the Lambent Kith and fade into the fabric of reality. But she didn't end up in the Nebula. She ended up in a city instead.
